THE MALDIVIAN DREAM

Vakkaru’s mission is to be magical, and you’ll feel this throughout your entire stay. Robinson Crusoe-types of all ages will feel at home, and if you think you’ll become bored in the middle of the Indian Ocean, you’d be horribly wrong. Other than lovely pools and beaches, where books, games, and talk flow in sync with cold coconuts and fulfilling drinks, you have the option to stay active by taking a diving certificate, swinging the tennis racket or winding down in the spa.

LARGE FAMILY VILLAS

Vakkaru is a hidden gem, and the resort spreads beautifully on the lush island. A lot of thought is put into reflecting the local culture in the design, and the prolific plants and blooming trees are well preserved. The design team has solely chosen the finest natural materials, gorgeous textiles, and furniture, in the total of 125 luxury villas and suites on the ocean, and on the beach. For families Vakkaru has perfect villas, where kids can mess around in their separate bedroom. If you have very young kids, we recommend the villas on the beach. If you’re travelling with elder children, would the experience of living in the villas on the ocean, be something way out of the ordinary. The lights, sounds, and view is utterly enchanting. From the terrace, you’re able to jump directly into exploring in the house reef. If you’re cuddling up on your honeymoon, or romantic getaway, there’s no need to worry, because in Vakkaru you’ll find small, quiet spaces, and tons of privacy.

INTO THE BLUE

Something very special you’ll find in the house reef in Vakkaru, are “blue holes”. Blue holes are sinkholes below the surface of the ocean, where the life and corals are remarkable. Skilled instructors are ready to take care of you and the well-equipped diving center, where you can either take your Open Water, advance further, or simply dive for fun. From May till November, the big manta rays flock in Baa Atollen, and you can also be lucky to see whale sharks – go on a snorkel safari and see the giants ballet dance right in front of you. Sea turtles also swim by the reef, and they lay eggs on the beach on Vakkaru. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to help the newly hatched turtles, out on their long journey in the Indian Ocean. A massive nature experience, especially for the kids. The whole family can head to the ocean during sundown on a private cruise, spot dolphins, visit local islands, or go on a fishing trip.

HALF PENSION & ORGANICNESS

Half pension in Vakkaru is amazing and has very few restrictions. Much of the produce is grown in Vakkaru’s organic vegetable garden. When time to eat, you can freely dine from the four ambitious restaurants, that each have their own personality. Fresh fruit, pancakes, and well-done eggs, made your preferred style, are served in the morning sun in Aamany, where you’ll sit with your feet in the sand, by the edge of the water. Eat modern holistic Asian interpretations in Onu, that resembles a stylish culinary theatre built in gorgeous bamboo. Vakku is their signature restaurant, with fine dining on the perfect terrace. Think the best meat and seafood on a grill, and a wine cellar that’s thoroughly worth exploring. Our favorite lunch spot is Isoletta, that whips up Italian dishes in the finest surroundings by the pool. Perfect for a sunbed break.
